Argument schemes

Some claims here were never asserted by anyone — the model inferred them, using a named argument scheme with its critical questions attached. Belief in an inference holds only while those questions stay open or favourable. See also the method.

  • Cui Bono — argument from benefit

Infers a likely actor from who stands to gain. Benefit is a reason to look, never a proof of guilt.

  • Cause to Effect

Infers a consequence from a cause already known to produce it.

  • Expert Testimony

Weighs a claim by the standing of the expert who asserts it — never by how loudly it is repeated.

  • Position to Know — witness or reporter

Weighs a claim by whether the source was actually placed to know what they report.
